Q: How do I register for GOLF Link Mates?
A: To register for GOLF Link Mates you simply need to follow one of the registration links found on the website, in an email communication from GOLF Link or in an invitation from one of your friends who already uses GOLF Link Mates.

On this registration page you will see that you need to fill in some details to register (such as your name and email address). All fields must be filled out except for the 'Mobile Number' field. Once you have filled out this information you will be sent a confirmation email. Please open this email and follow the instructions in the email to complete your registration. Once you have done so you will be ready to start using GOLF Link Mates.

Q: How do I log-in to GOLF Link Mates?
A: There are two different ways to login to GOLF Link Mates. You can use the Mates link in the top bar on golflink.com.au or click on the 'Mates Log In' in the footer

Q: How do I use the new navigation?
A: Simply hover over the menu names to show the drop down selections. All sections have a landing page to give you a brief explanation of all pages.

Q: How do I add a mate?
A: To add a Mate simply click Find and add Mates and search for your friends last name or Golf Link number, click add to add as Mate. You can also add or invite friends via the Comp Rank list. The invite link will show if your friend is not a Mates member yet and an invitation email will be sent. You will find all your pending requests under My Mates.

Q: How do I send and view messages?
A: You both send and view messages from the messages page of the Mates site, to get to this page simply click on the Messages under My Mates in the menu.

You can send new messages to your mates by opening the 'Send New Message' box; to do this you need to click on the + symbol on the right. You will then have to enter the subject, select which mate(s) to send the message to and then type your message in box provided. You can also change a variety of standard formatting options.

Below the new message box you will see a summary of your message threads. Each summary will show you the subject and the author of the most recent reply to this thread as well as the time and date of the most recent reply. Any message that has not been read will be highlighted in a gold colour. To view the full message and all replies to this message you simply need to click on the subject; this will take you to a separate page where you can view the full message along with all replies. You can also reply to the message from this page, any reply will automatically be sent to all recipients of the original message.

Q: How Do I set up My Profile?
A: You can view your profile page by clicking Edit profile under Profile or the link Edit my details on your profile page.
Nick Name: This is the name that your mates will see when they interact with you on GOLF Link Mates.
Avatar: This is a picture that your mates see when they interact with you on GOLF Link Mates, including when you are on top of a leaderboard. To upload your picture you simply to click the browse button and select a picture from your computer to upload.
Email Address: This is the email address you have chosen to use with GOLF Link Mates. Any email notifications will be sent this to address. To change your email address you first need click on the 'Change Email Address' button. This will bring up a box asking you to enter your new email and retype your password (for security purposes).
Once you have done this you will receive an email on your newly entered address asking you to confirm your new email address. Click the link in this email to confirm your new email address. Your email will not change until you have done this.
Signature: This is a short line that will be displayed at the bottom of each message you send to your Mates including Brags & Bags.
About: This is a description of yourself that your Mates will be able to see when they view your profile.
Please click 'Update' once you have made any changes to your profile to ensure that all the changes are saved.

Q: How do I view my Handicap History/My Rounds and compare it with my mates' Handicap History?
A: You can view your Handicap History by clicking on My Result/My Rounds. At the top you will see two drop down menus. One is for choosing the time period and the other for choosing your mates rounds.

Q: How do I view my Competition Rank and my mates' Competition Rank?
A: You can view your Competition Rank by clicking on the My Results/Comp Rank. Once on this page you will see a summary of your rounds history along with a summary of your Mates' history. You can view up to 3 of your Mates Comp Rank.

To view one of your own or one of your mates rounds in more detail simply click the view link on the appropriate row. At the top of this page there is a competition summary showing such information as the date, number of entrants, par, ACR (or AWCR) and CCR for the competition.

You can also sort your Comp Rank by Grade, Your Mates and Mates members only by using the drop down menu.

Q: How do I use Order of Merit?
A: This page presents your national, state and club rankings. You can sort by grades and also view your mates by ticking the boxes. If you click on your name you’ll see the players nearest you in the ranking.

Here is the criteria for calculating the National Rank:
- Calculated daily
- Is a Standard Competition Ranking method based on the exact handicap
- Ranks are calculated by the below categories and are always split by Men and Women 

National
State
Club

- All categories are ranked by grade also. The grade’s and their exact handicap ranges are below, and apply to both Men and Women
A Grade: +5 - 12.4
B Grade: 12.5 – 20.4
C Grade: 20.5 – 27.4
D Grade: 27.5 and greater

- Golfers who fit the criteria below are included in the ranking otherwise any un-qualified golfers are excluded from ranking and are not assigned a rank
Must be a Valid Player at their home club
Must be a Valid Member at their home club
Must have a handicap status of ‘Normal’ (this excludes un-allocated golfers, frozen handicaps etc.)
Professional golfers are excluded from ranking
Handicaps that are greater than or equal to +5 are included in ranking

Q: How do I view my charts?
A: You can view your charts by clicking on the 'My Results/Charts' tab. To view a chart you first need to select the chart from the list on the right, 'Comp Rank History' for example. Then you need to select the range of the chart from the drop down box below the chart, '1 Year' for example. If you have information for this chart type in the range you have selected you will now see it displayed on the chart.

Q: How do I send a copy of my charts to my mates?
A: You can send a copy of your chart to your mates from the Charts page. You simply need to click on one of the share links which you can find just above the Chart you are viewing. When you click on one of these symbols a box will pop up allowing you to enter a message and select which mate(s) you wish to send the chart to. You can do this for any piece of information on GOLF LinkMates.

Q: How do I enter my statistics in the Stats section and what are standards for entering the stats?
A: To enter your stats you need to click on ‘My Rounds/Stats’ in the navigation. On this page you will see a summary of your score. 
Greens In Regulation: In the Hit column enter the number of times you made the green in regulation.
Fairways: In the Hit column enter the number of times you hit the fairway. In the Tries column enter the number of holes where you could hit the fairway (i.e. not par 3 holes)
Total Putts: In the Hit column enter the total number of putts you hit in the round
Sand Saves: In the Hit column enter the number of times you made par after landing in a bunker. In the Tries column enter the number of holes you hit a bunker on.
Up and Downs: In the Hit column enter the number of times you holed out with just one chip and one putt. In the Tries column enter the number of times you attempted this from around the greenside
Once you have entered all of the above stats press the 'Update' button to save them. You can then view the charts, view the leaderboards or send a Brag or Bag by clicking on the appropriate link to the right of each stat.

Q: How do I get on the Leaderboard?
A: The first thing you need to do in order to be on a leaderboard is to have at least one Mate. To be on the 'Exact Handicap' leaderboard you simply need to have an exact handicap. To be on the 'Form Leader', 'Comp Rank Leader', and 'Average Comp Rank Leader' boards you need to have competition history within the last 3 months. For all of the stats leaderboards you need to have entered the appropriate statistic for at least one round within the last 3 months.

Q: What are badges for?
A: The badge shown on your profile page is an award for how many years you’ve been a member and is also visible to your mates when they click on your profile. We will create more badges and awards in the future.

Bronze badge: Mates member, first year.
Silver badge: Mates member, 1-2 years.
Gold badge: Mates member, more than 2 years.
